Who is Gianuzz
(jon-oots)?
Well, my real name
is John. I am of Italian, Irish and German heritage. My father is 100% Italian
(specifically, Sicilian), my mother is half Irish, half German. Giannuzzu is the
name my Paternal Grandmother used for me. I always thought it was just the flair
of her Italian accent added to my everyday name. Well, several years ago I
discovered that Giannuzzu is actually the Sicilian equivalent of Giovanni
(pronounced jo'-vah-nee, not gee-oh-vah-nee) which is the Italian equivalent of
John. I have taken the liberty of dropping the 'u' off the end. I believe
it is a diminutive for young boys. I also, mistakenly, dropped an 'n'.
Where is he now?
In the past, I have
moved quite a bit. Click here to find out where I
am, now, and where I have been.
