Kuwait

One July, 2005, morning I made the mistake of changing my morning routine and buying coffee at our office cafe rather than the local drive-thru.  While there I ran in to the same person who sent me to both of my trips to Kyrgyzstan.  While stirring our coffees he said, "we need to talk."  Uh oh!  When he mentioned 30-45 days in Kuwait, I was not surprised.  I had expected to fly directly from Kyrgyzstan to Kuwait.  My 30-45 days became 5 months.  It was interesting.  Highway driving was generally at speeds between 140 and 160kph (87-100mph).  The speed limit was 120kph (76mph).  My SUV topped out at 179kph, with a good tail wind!

If you spend any time in the desert, you are required to take a picture of a camel

These little pickups were everywhere. It just seemed odd to see a camel in the back.

The Japanese had all the really cool toys!

Unit #58. This is where I lived for my first 3 months in Kuwait.

These living quarters were a definite upgrade!

With nothing to obstruct the view, the desert is always good for an awesome sunset....

.....and, some pretty good sunrises

Liberation Tower, in downton Kuwait City.

An interesting timepice spotted inside the Al Sharqi Mall.

On a foggy day, The Kuwait Towers, the city landmark. Their likeness even appears on the National currency

These are municipal water towers. They are massive.

More camels!
