Italy 2

These photos were taken, while on excursion, during the month that we were in Belforte.  Some of the trips were organized by the school.  All of our non-tourist travel was organized by my brother.  We had rented a car, in Germany, for the duration of the trip and we made good use of it whenever we could.  We have friends from Ascoli Piceno so several trips were made to visit with them.  Whenever we could, we included at least one other student on our trips out of town.  The car held four comfortably, five if needed and, because it was a mini-station wagon, up to 9 people on quick trips to the ristorante in Lunano, 3 kilometers away.  The school provides a good variety of excursions to cities around the region: San Marino, Perugia, Sienna, Urbino, Florence (we skipped Florence) and others.

For picture of my Naples trip, go to page 3.

At the Altesino Winery in Montalcino. Montalcino is the heart of the Brunello wine region in southern Tuscany.

At the production facility of Ferretti Yachts in Cattolica. We stopped here, after hours, and they were nice enough to give us a spontaneous 45-minute tour.

David, Toke and Marco watching old guys (wearing Speedos) playing bocce on the beach in Rimini.

Visiting with friends in San Bennedetto del Tronto

The main church at Asissi. No one is allowed to take pictures inside the building. It is beautiful.

Looking down at the Piazza del Campo, 300 feet below, in Siena with David and my sister-in-law, Donna.

Junichi (June) on the bus, for our first outing, to San Marino. After the month-long school, June was planning to spend a year in Italy living the life!

One of the historic buildings in San Marino. To the left of this square was cliff and you could see the Adriatic Sea.

Some of the towers of San Gimignano. At one time, this walled city had 72 towers, each representing the wealth of their owners. Only 15 remain.

Marco being Marco. This was at a cafe at one of the marinas in San Bennedetto del Tronto.

"I am so cool.." Stefano at our going away dinner.
